This vintage whiskey crock from Aug. Baetzhold & Sons captures a piece of Buffalo, New York, distilling history. The stoneware jug features a stout, cylindrical form with a slightly domed shoulder and a narrow neck, topped by a small squared lip. Its pale, creamy glaze is accented by a bold blue transfer that reads “AUG. BAETZHOLD AND SONS, 587-671 MICHIGAN ST., BUFFALO, N.Y.”, giving the piece clear provenance and an authentic Americana feel. The glaze shows the gentle, age-appropriate imperfections and mellow crazing typical of late 19th to early 20th-century stoneware, which only enhances its character for collectors and rustic decor enthusiasts.
